GOVERNOR'S POWERS ORDER, 2000

Chief Executive Order No. 11 of 2000

An order to provide for powers of the Governor of a Province to make, promulgate and issue the ordinances and other legal instruments.


Whereas it is expedient to provide for the powers of the Governor of a Province to make, promulgate and issue the Ordinances and other legal instruments;

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the proclamation of the Emergency of the fourteenth day of October, 1999 and Provisional Constitution Order No. l of 1999, as amended, and in exercise of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is pleased to make and promulgate the following order:--

1. Short title and commencement.
(1) This Order may be called the Governor's Powers Order, 2000.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
2. Amendment of Article 4, Chief Executive's Order 9 of 1999
In the Provisional Constitution (Amendment) Order No. 9 of 1999, in Article 4:-
(a) the words "on instructions of the Chief Executive" shall be omitted; and
(b) for the full stop at the end, and a colon shall be substituted and thereafter the following provisos shall be added, namely:---
"Provided that it shall be the duty of the Governor furnish information relating to any proposed Ordinance to the Chief Executive:

Provided further that The Chief Executive may at any time, whether before or after promulgation of an Ordinance by the Governor, issue directions or instructions to the Governor including those to amend, alter or repeal an Ordinance, as the Chief Executive may deem fit."
